Programme (ETP)
The ETP is an initiative by the Malaysia
Government to turnMalaysia intoahigh income
economyby the year of 2020. It ismanagedby
the Performance Management and Delivery
Unit (PEMANDU), an agency under the Prime
MinisterDepartment.Theprogrammeprovides
strong focus on 12 National Key Economic
Areas (NKEAs). These NKEAs are expected
tomake substantial contributions toMalaysia’s
economic performance, and they will receive
prioritisedpublic investmentandpolicysupport.
TheETPprojectswillbe ledby theprivatesector
where the Government will primarily play the
roleof a facilitator.
Communications Content and
infrastructure (CCI)
Among the 12 NKEAs, Asia Media will be
involved in theCCIsector.TheCCIsectorspans
a wide ecosystem, from content generation
to networks, services and devices. In 2009,
the sector contributed RM22 billion from
telecommunications, TV and broadcasting as
well as post and courier. The sector should
now build on the infrastructure investments of
thepast and shift toprovidingapplications and
content inorder toenable theknowledge-based
society.TheCCINKEAaimsatdrivingcontinued
highgrowth incommunicationsandenabling the
paradigmshift from infrastructure toapplications
and content.
AsiaMedia in theETP
TheGroup intends to investRM500millionover
thenext five to tenyears todevelopdeveloping
the first Digital Live Transit-TV Broadcasting
infrastructure in Malaysia. By adopting
international broadcasting infrastructure, Asia
Media is capable of delivering live video and
voice into the transportation industrywithin the
country.
Asia Media intends to leverage on the three
licences (NFP-i, NSP-i, and CASP-i) awarded
by the Malaysian Communications and
Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in 2010
for the deployment and integration of Digital
Multimedia Broadcasting and DTTB into the
TransNet network.
DTTB is a type of infrastructure that employs
digital broadcasting to transmitTVsignals from
terrestrial transmission towers toaconventional
aerial. With DTTB, the Group will be able to
deliver real-time content and information to the
targeted mobile audience via live broadcasts.
Additionally, Asia Media intends to improve
its capabilities to broadcast information and
entertainment to a large range of devices (i.e.
mobile phones, personal computers, personal
digital assistant) apart from public transports.
